I paint landscape, seascape and still life oil paintings.
My inspiration comes from light, the light-filled coastal locations of Lewis and Harris and the colours intensified by reflected light from the sea. I use rich and vibrant oil paints to capture moments of beauty.
I love painting en plein air, in front of the subject; all the senses are stimulated, the fleeting changes in light and weather as the prevailing wind brings a quick succession of cloudy, then clear skies.
I aim to depict the essence of a subject in vibrant brushstrokes, making every one count.
