I am a visual artist, making semi-abstract paintings of the local landscape and natural world using digital software.

I also work in oil, gouache, collage and other mixed media however recently I have found that digital painting suits my immediate style of working and has developed my use of colour. It has also allowed me to be more experimental in how I approach and start a piece of work: this has helped me to keep a looseness to my work which I prefer. My natural style has always been slightly abstracted; I have an idea of a subject, possibly the colours and then I enjoy seeing where the layering of paint takes me.

The landscape and natural history of the Outer Hebrides is my inspiration; I try to capture the movement the wild weather presents us with and the way it transforms my windowed views throughout any given day. I enjoy exploring the islands and will often be found sketching or taking photographs which I will use in my work.
