My paintings are inspired by my love of wildlife and nature;the older I get the more whimsical my art seems to become.I am very lucky to live in Port of Ness looking out over The Minch...a lot of the critters I like to paint often seem to swim past my home!
I work mainly with acrylics:they seem to do what I want them to do.Along with canvases of varying sizes I paint a lot of slates and even the occasional piece of driftwood.
After university I worked for a publishers painting a whole range of things from flowers to tractors,it wasn't until I painted for Merrythought Bears that I caught the arctophile bug. Painting takes up most of my time but those pesky bears won't let me forget about them for too long before demanding my attention. Nowadays I make bears in a whole range of tartans who find homes in some wonderful places around the world. Inevitably being here I have become fascinated by the glorious varieties of the woven cloth with the orb and am honoured to make bears for Harris Tweed in Tarbert.
